I come to bring sword not peace.
I come to bring sword not peace.
Matthew 10:34-40
[34]“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
[35]‘I have come to set a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
[36]Your enemies will be right in your own household!’
[37]“If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.
[38]If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.
[39]If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.
[40]“Anyone who receives you receives me, and anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me.
Lesson in Golden Calf
Exodus 32:4,17-29
[4]Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed, “O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”
[17]When Joshua heard the boisterous noise of the people shouting below them, he exclaimed to Moses, “It sounds like war in the camp!”
[18]But Moses replied, “No, it’s not a shout of victory nor the wailing of defeat. I hear the sound of a celebration.”
[19]When they came near the camp, Moses saw the calf and the dancing, and he burned with anger. He threw the stone tablets to the ground, smashing them at the foot of the mountain.
[20]He took the calf they had made and burned it. Then he ground it into powder, threw it into the water, and forced the people to drink it.
[21]Finally, he turned to Aaron and demanded, “What did these people do to you to make you bring such terrible sin upon them?”
[22]“Don’t get so upset, my lord,” Aaron replied. “You yourself know how evil these people are.
[23]They said to me, ‘Make us gods who will lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.’
[24]So I told them, ‘Whoever has gold jewelry, take it off.’ When they brought it to me, I simply threw it into the fire—and out came this calf!”
[25]Moses saw that Aaron had let the people get completely out of control, much to the amusement of their enemies.
[26]So he stood at the entrance to the camp and shouted, “All of you who are on the lord’s side, come here and join me.” And all the Levites gathered around him.
[27]Moses told them, “This is what the lord, the God of Israel, says: Each of you, take your swords and go back and forth from one end of the camp to the other. Kill everyone—even your brothers, friends, and neighbors.”
[28]The Levites obeyed Moses’ command, and about 3,000 people died that day.
[29]Then Moses told the Levites, “Today you have ordained yourselves for the service of the lord, for you obeyed him even though it meant killing your own sons and brothers. Today you have earned a blessing.”
You are Blessed if all your member of family is a believer. But imagine being born into Muslim country or family of unbelievers. There is a constant fighting against the Kingdom of God and of Darkness, and we know that because when we first came to the Kingdom of God, not all of us are easily accepted by our families with our faith.
Luke 21:16-19
[16]Even those closest to you—your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends—will betray you. They will even kill some of you.
[17]And everyone will hate you because you are my followers.
[18]But not a hair of your head will perish!
[19]By standing firm, you will win your souls.
Luke 12:49-53
[49]“I have come to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already burning!
[50]I have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished.
[51]Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!
[52]From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of me, and two against—or two in favor and three against.
[53]‘Father will be divided against son
and son against father;
mother against daughter
and daughter against mother;
and mother-in-law against daughter-in-law
and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.’”
Those who Obey God are our new families. God had brought us into a family of Believers. Who have one goal it's to please and serve the Lord.
Galatians 6:9-10
[9]So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
[10]Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.
Matthew 12:46-50
[46]As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him.
[47]Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and they want to speak to you.”
[48]Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
[49]Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers.
[50]Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”
Nevertheless as Jesus lives here on earth with the unrighteous people God wants us to live like him, among our unbelieving relatives and Families and show the light of Christ in our Life.
1 Peter 2:4-12
[4]You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor.
[5]And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.
[6]As the Scriptures say,
“I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem,
chosen for great honor,
and anyone who trusts in him
will never be disgraced.”
[7]Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him,
“The stone that the builders rejected
has now become the cornerstone.”
[8]And,
“He is the stone that makes people stumble,
the rock that makes them fall.”They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.
[9]But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
[10]“Once you had no identity as a people;
now you are God’s people.
Once you received no mercy;
now you have received God’s mercy.”
[11]Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.
[12]Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.
