Chruch Tradition Vs Spirit Of Church

- We lived in a world that before you must be saved you need a church building to join in. or a sect.

totally forgetting about the basic foundation of a Church, Which is the Holy Spirit.

Modern Churches Set up rules and standard that are not really set up by the Lord. just like the pharisees burdening its people with the weight of the LAW.

- Give an example of Church traditions:

You must join our church in order to be saved, apart from our church there is no salvation. you must  join service daily etc etc

Give an example of Pharisecal traditions

Matthew 15:1-13

[1]Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him,

[2]“Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”

[3]Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God?

[4]For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’

[5]But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’

[6]In this way, you say they don’t need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition.

[7]You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,

[8]‘These people honor me with their lips, 

    but their hearts are far from me.

[9]Their worship is a farce, 

    for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’”

[10]Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “Listen,” he said, “and try to understand.

[11]It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”

[12]Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said?”

[13]Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted,

Luke 11:45-46,52-53

[45]“Teacher,” said an expert in religious law, “you have insulted us, too, in what you just said.”

[46]“Yes,” said Jesus, “what sorrow also awaits you experts in religious law! For you crush people with unbearable religious demands, and you never lift a finger to ease the burden.

[52]“What sorrow awaits you experts in religious law! For you remove the key to knowledge from the people. You don’t enter the Kingdom yourselves, and you prevent others from entering.”

[53]As Jesus was leaving, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees became hostile and tried to provoke him with many questions.

- when you left your former church we all know they think of us as backsliden, commiting an error, or a blasphemy against the church. 

and many of us did'nt know that there is a Holy Spirit who will be our advocate.

Acts of the Apostles 19:2-6

[2]“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them.“No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

[3]“Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked.And they replied, “The baptism of John.”

[4]Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.”

[5]As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

[6]Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.

but we thank God for his vast mercy that has called you all into his Spiritual Church,

John 4:20-26

[20]So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?”

[21]Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

[22]You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews.

[23]But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.

[24]For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

[25]The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

[26]Then Jesus told her, “i am the Messiah!”

- as you all see we that are in WDIG are united under one head which is the LORD Jesus Christ, Knowing fully that  we have no physical buildings,

Matthew 16:18

[18]Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

God made his dwellings upon men upon us by giving us his Holy Spirit. no longer in manmade churches.

Acts of the Apostles 7:48-51

[48]However, the Most High doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. As the prophet says,

[49]‘Heaven is my throne, 

    and the earth is my footstool. 

Could you build me a temple as good as that?’ 

    asks the lord. 

‘Could you build me such a resting place? 

   

[50]Didn’t my hands make both heaven and earth?’

[51]“You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

[16]Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

[17]God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

John 14:16-17

[16]And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.

[17]He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

Here we learn that Jesus gives us a helper whom we ask no longer we must flock up to pastors we just need trust and ask the HOLY SPIRIT.

Modern Church traditions doesnt please GOD, But a Holy filled Church is which is you and me.
